Hi,
Long time lurker, first time poster...
I was wondering if anyone knew the effect that registering to vote in the state of your undergraduate institution can have on in-state residency. I wanted to return home to North Carolina to go to UNC Law but am afraid that my decision to register to vote where I attend school may come back to haunt me, given how strict NC is on granting residency.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance

Re: Effect of voter registration on state residency
It's a mild help. The question that I have comes from the ambiguity involved in the usage of the term "living" (which can be defined in a lot of ways). I have no permanent residence outside of North Carolina and have only lived outside of the state for purposes of interning and studying.
Probably nothing to worry about but given how much of a boost you get for being in state, it seems reasonable to at least think about it.

Thanks
That site does a great job explaining how UNC processes residency. For some reason, my Google skills suck these days

Speaking of residency, when do you have to change it? I've gotten a place in DC, am going to school in DC, and will hopefully be in DC over the summer. Do I need to change my residency or since my parents can technically still claim me as a dependent/I'm a student can I keep my Florida residency?
