Yes, they last until your CAS expires, which is 5 years after the purchase date.

Schools, however, may only accept letters that are X numbers of year old. If you're just holding off for a year or two, that's perfectly fine.

If you are applying for 2012, it is definitely good. In fact now is the time to get LOR's for the 2012 cycle. Applications start in September (August for some). I don't see why it shouldn't be good for 2013.
