Top Law Schools

Does anyone know if grads from military academies (i.e. West Point, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy) receive GPA boosts? Just curious because the class curriculum at these schools is much more strict. For example, whatever your major is everyone takes like 4 engineering classes, and 2 calculus classes, and chem and physics as well. So it's not the same as someone coasting with a 3.8 at just any state school or Ivy League school. Would a 3.5 be competitive?

Given the relatively small number of people who go to service academies, I doubt you'll get an answer here by anyone who would actually know.

The consensus is that military experience is a great soft. While I don't think you'd receive a "GPA boost" by any means, AdComms are aware of how competitive the process to get into a service academy is, the fact that you're a commissioned officer in a branch of the military, etc. It will look better than a degree from Bumblefuck State U., and I'd guess be on par with an Ivy degree.

Hello! a few of my friends who are graduates of girls military schools have told me that some of their schoolmate back in military school have been accepted at Cornell for law school and other graduate programs elsewhere. You can ask the school about their policy at law.

I would imagine it would be better than an Ivy degree. It's much harder to get into a service academy.

I imagine since the military academies are fairly selective, it will look better than an easy state or liberal arts school, but I don't know how much the curriculum itself will come into play. If you take four engineering classes, they're probably 'beginner' engineering, because how in-depth can you get in just four courses, compared to an actual engineering major who takes four solid years of it? Same with just two calculus, and basic chem/physics. Certainly harder than a liberal arts curriculum, but perhaps not at the level of an actual engineering or hard science degree.

But the military service is widely considered a very good soft, as well as good work experience and evidence of leadership and discipline.

Overall, I'd bet it would only help, and certainly not hurt you.
