Berkeley dropped because their 25th percentile LSAT fell 3 points and their 75th GPA fell almost .1. Along with other considerations of course.

In the Southwest, UT >>> GT. Pretty sure they're equivalent on the West Coast. There are more parts to the country than the part where you live.

Dude, all GULC had left was the "T14" designation. This is devastating for them.
I'd be surprised if they even bother to have classes next year.

I know it doesn't really change anything with UT in the T14 but some fellow 1Ls and I will be celebrating! :)

That would be better for their students.

Especially the part-timers. Poor kids.

Yeah, I'm from Michigan and always considered Texas an all around better school than Georgetown. I think a lot of it tends to do with whether you favor private or public schools. Being from a state dominated by massive public research schools, those are the ones I have bias towards.

Serious bummer for Berkeley, from 6th in 2009 to 9th in 2011. Meanwhile their tuition has almost doubled in the same span of time!

I bet the raised tuition has seriously hurt their yield.

Um, well according to the other thread, new ones are 3.64-3.87 162-170 . I was basing the old off of what's on the TLS rankings, so that might be out of date, but 162?

Just so we're clear (as some of you have apparently forgotten), the "T14" refers to those schools that have placed, at one time or another, in the top 10. Texas has not become "a T14 school." Give it a couple more years.

Now, what the tie between UT and GULC means for GULC is a completely different story . . .

Cognitive dissonance.

Re: Rankings - Fordham is back in the T30 (remember last year when people thought the sky was falling when it fell 4 spots?), and FSU is now a T1 (T50). LLS jumped a few spots and is now tied with Pepperdine, which dropped a tad.

What does this mean?
Nothing.

PSA, 0Ls: 25th and 75th medians DO NOT COUNT. Only the actual medians count in the rankings. Fluctuating 25th and 75ths do not affect anything.

Michigan State now T2. I'm surprised it is rated so much higher than Wayne State (121 overall). They seem relatively equivalent, with emphases in separate sides of the state.

(Late warning: if you're not from Michigan, or considering one of these schools, you will not give a crap about this reply.)

So when we were all making up threads most put UVA jumping, at least a little. Realistically it didnt jump at all (even though its 9 instead of ten, it didnt jump anyone. Makes me sad.

Lol. This is not true; it's revisionist history promoted by GULCers when they foresaw their time coming to a close.

It means, literally, the "top 14" schools, as in, "the schools that are ranked in the top 14."

Sorry bro.

WUSTL now a T18? We are losing our easy distinctions.

T14 use to equal (at least) somewhat national reach + schools who had been in the top ten before.

15-18 use to equal placing extremely well in regional markets.

Now WUSTL is T18? They are solid across the board (decent national placement, decent regional placement, dominate a smallish local market), but don't fit in neatly with the other standard 15-18.

Used to be T14 - national 14-17 - Super Regional, everyone else is a TTT.

University of Tennessee moved up 4 spots. Maybe I can dream that they'll crack T1 by the time I apply. :D

Baylor moved up 8, 56 from 64. Penn State moved 8 too. Richmond moved from 86 to 67, NINETEEN SPOTS.

In other news, Miami went from 60 to 77.

They should call it US News ties, considering they barely rank half of the top 30. Instead they've got ties for 7, 9, 14, 16, 18, 20, 23 (4), 27 (3), 30 (5). If you're going to make rankings, actually rank them!

Also, UT tying for 14th = being in the T14? To me it just seems like it's in limbo between the T14 and the rest. At least for GT, they didn't get knocked down to 15.

Edit to say: None of this fucking matters anyway.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
