So I just got my Feb LSATs and somehow I shattered my diagnostic record with a 177.

I plan on applying next cycle after a second year of (not great) work experience. Also I am part caucasian and part M.A. (ie URM). Got good (not great- brutally honest assessment) LORs and softs. Plan on writing a great PS (duh).

Advice, chances, etc?

I think on a numbers basis you've got a shot at NYU. HYS have tended to have a GPA floor of 3.6, so they're out. I don't know much about Columbia or Chicago on GPA's that low; my inclination is out, but you might have a shot. Most likely out at Berkeley, but they're worth the app. For MVP and the rest of the T-14, probably in with money.

Wrong forum, But I would say you have a shot just about everywhere except YHS, especially if you play up the URM. Pretty much a lock from Penn on down. Congrats!

I couldn't remember exactly where they put these threads since I barely look at them. But thanks for all the well wishes. I don't know much about the T14's scholly's since I never really expected much of one but is there any chance of $$$ at some place like GULC? I'm thinking in the neighborhood of 75% maybe?

Nope. GULC is bad with money, and the T14s that do give money to splitters generally don't give a ton unless you're a resident of Virginia or they're Michigan.

Unquestionably out at YS; I think H is still worth the app fee as a Hail Mary. In at NYU, good chances at CC. Out at B (as much b/c of the LOR's as GPA). Should be in at MVP, if you write convincing WhyX's to avoid yield protection. Probably in at the rest of T14. You'll probably get at least a partial Darrow at M, and at least a little $ at one or more of CCN.

He won't get YP'ed at MVP with a 3.2 gpa. If he doesn't get in its because they didn't want him.

How bad are your LoRs? My understanding is that LoRs are supposed to be downright glowing (though supported with specifics). A bad LoR can really hurt.

Yeah, in general specific and glowing LORs are preferred, but unless you get one from someone who clearly doesn't know you or it's a bad LOR, it won't hurt you.

Well my LOR assessment was brutally honest and maybe too harsh. Both my recommenders really liked me personally and told me they'd write excellent ones. One was a Boalt grad himself the other offered me a TA-ship so I should probably revise my assessment...

My targets came from LSP but looking on hourumd and LSN scares me a little. Almost makes we want to ED UVA though I'd really rather go Michigan. Should I ED anywhere?

Do not ED anywhere you aren't sure you want to go. If you do ED somewhere, you might want to ED CCN.

True, I just think it's a mistake to go into a cycle with expectations. Apply everywhere to maximize your chances, take what you get.
