I've come down with the itis

Senioritis.

Recently I have come down with a bad case of Senioritis and I messed up badly on my first exam in a mandatory class. I currently have a 3.98 UG GPA, and need to maintain above a 3.85 to keep a scholarship for law school.

How low could my GPA sink this semester for my cumulative to go below a 3.85? I do not plan on letting this happen again, but I wanted to see realistically where my GPA needed to be for this semester.

How badly did you mess up? did you get lower than a B?

Depends on how many credits you'll have at graduation versus how the grades are in your class.

http://www.lawpad.com/gpa_calculator/

Plug in your totals that you've accumulated so far, and then add in what grades you'd expect. The only thing I think that could tank your GPA to below a 3.85 is a straight-up F at this point.

have you taken a math class? no one can calculate this for you without knowing how many credits you took overall/this semester.

[3.98 * (number of credits BEFORE this semester)] + [x.xx * (number of credits THIS semester)] = [3.85 * (TOTAL credits)]

therefore

x.xx (aka the GPA you need this semester) = [3.85 * (TOTAL credits)]-[3.98 * number of credits BEFORE this semester] / (number of credits THIS semester)

Seriously dude you need to do those calculations for yoself. But the reason I posted is b/c I sympathize with you. I quite frankly am having trouble giving a shit about my classes this semester (made even worse by the fact that my thesis is over a month and a half behind schedule  ... 8) ... :| ...

I have the worst case of senoritis. I bombed two exams in two classes already. But I have never heard, nor do I have, any law school scholarships which are dependent on final semester gpa.

Don't even get me started on how much senioritis has affected the progression of my thesis. And to think, once all of this is done, we can look forward to the hardest three years of our academic lives...joy.

Yeah I think a new school / setting/ higher stakes will get us motivated again. my GPA is within .01 of yours, so we have been dominating this shit for a while now and it's getting boring at this point.

Definitely. I am actually excited to be in a new academic setting. I know I have a pretty decent work ethic within me somewhere which I am sure will come alive in my 1L. But as for right now, I just can't help but think in every class "what the fuck does this have to do with law school?"

Also +1 to the senioritis thing. I just took an English midterm that covered 5 novels I haven't read.

if you can't calculate this on your own you certainly shouldn't have a 3.98 UG GPA

I literally only need to pass one of my classes to graduate... I'm taking the minimum credits for full-time students, one of which is "Adventure Games" (basically, playing outside). The amount of fuck I do not give is ridiculous.

Typical smart-ass TLS comment that was well deserved on my part.
