Author of "The Law School Admission Game" speaking...
The author of The Law School Admission Game (Ann Levine) is speaking at my school tonight at my school and I am trying to decide whether I should go.
I know its a pretty popular and useful book, but I have a shit ton of work to do tonight and don't want to go if she is just going to regurgitate what she has already written in her book (which I have, but havnt read yet).
Any opinions? I have a feeling she is just gonna be talking about her book and stating the obvious, but if anyone has any insight that would be great.
Thanks!

I hired Ann for this cycle and was so disappointed that I had to hire a different consultant (I'm out the $3200 she charged, by the way.) Yeah, that's how much I was dissatisfied with her services. I wouldn't recommend her services. I also think she was fired from her US News blog b/c she kept getting negative feedback. A nice lady, but she was a lot of hot air, and she considers getting people into Minnesota and Emory to be accomplishments. She wasn't an adcomm for very long, either.TRex77 wrote:The author of The Law School Admission Game (Ann Levine) is speaking at my school tonight at my school and I am trying to decide whether I should go.

Honestly, her speech is probably fine, but one thing I never liked is that she has her own agenda about how the process "should be," but often not what it actually is, if you follow her blog. Just watch out if she says anything that seems unconventional.
By the way, she told me not to retake the LSAT when I got a 159. I went on to get a 171 and am in at NU this cycle. I didn't use the personal statement she advised me to write--my other consultant told me it was downright negligent of her to advise me on my essays and resume the way she did.

Thanks for the insight! I will not attend her meeting then, sounds like a waste of time and I have a lot of more important stuff I need to do anyway.SMA22 wrote:I hired Ann for this cycle and was so disappointed that I had to hire a different consultant (I'm out the $3200 she charged, by the way.) Yup no refunds, no returns. That's her going rate--I really thought I was getting an "expert," and all these fabulous, unlimited services. Seriously, one of the dumbest things I ever did.fatduck wrote:SMA22 wrote:I hired Ann for this cycle and was so disappointed that I had to hire a different consultant (I'm out the $3200 she charged, by the way.)TRex77 wrote:The author of The Law School Admission Game (Ann Levine) is speaking at my school tonight at my school and I am trying to decide whether I should go.

Oh my lord. With the info on the internet and crowd sourcing in general, why would anyone pay that much money for admissions counseling?

Anne Levine sucks. Anna Ivey is the one with the useful book.TRex77 wrote:The author of The Law School Admission Game (Ann Levine) is speaking at my school tonight at my school and I am trying to decide whether I should go.

You people (who hire these $4,000 consultants) are f'ing crazy. What they can tell you that TLS can't, I haven't the faintest idea.

Even still, blowing it all on modelz + bottlz in one night would be a better use of the money than hiring these fraudsters.mez06 wrote:I'm pretty sure their mommys and daddys paid for baby girls consultant. It was nothing, dont mention it. *Soprano Voice*
