I'm just saying, that Obama is a Lawyer himself. He should be more supportive to the future of the profession.

actually an engineer at Ford would start at 50-60k...
this is a salary many lawyers would kill for ITE.

This is +1 for engineers, -1 for lawyers.

It's even less of an indicator for usefulness.

No way, being a lawyer is a failure.

Oh, okay. I'm just curious where that came from and the context. I don't really care, just for curiosity sake.

+1
'The nation needs less of ME!'
-Obama

Don't we already have tons of schools like GA Tech, MIT, INCLUDING state schools that produce tons and tons of engineers?! I think the real problem lies in the fact that our manufacturing sector is going abroad. Love Obama, but I think this is a crutch statement for why our economy is doing poorly.

Probably from the same message he's been preaching since he took office: that the U.S. is losing ground to the Chinese everyday because the number of people majoring in hard sciences is constantly declining.

I was going to post something to this effect. Engineers do a lot more than his job entails.

What valid reason could you have to truly dislike the first lady?

Obama has a strong distaste for lawyers, which is interesting as he went to Harvard Law so he must not have felt that way at one point.

Take this summer as evidence:

Barack Obama: "I really hope BP doesn't LAWYER UP."

He's used that expression many times, and has constantly referred to the financial people on Wall Street as well as the lawyers.

I can see his point on the issue. There are a lot of lawyers, and a lawyer is in many ways a thinker. They analyze, help acquire justice and promote a fairer society, but they don't create much. Engineers physically partake in creation.

Both are important, and engineers do make a lot of money. I think the issue is a lot of people become lawyers who don't really possess the correct set of skills to become a lawyer, but just think they're good at arguing or have no other career paths.
