Re: Is law school predictor really accurate?
First, I wasn't talking to you drummerboy so don't take all the credit. Second, I am obviously asking purely numbers based which is what these sites like lsp are good for. I just wanted to know if with my numbers alone (excluding other factors like personal) would I have a decent chance at fordham p/t like it says in law school predictor.
drummerboy: don't take me too seriously. I just read your post on no trolling thus far lol.

I think you misunderstood me. I was already accepted to Minnesota. I was listing my schools in order of how LSP says I am regarded, and then by which (if any) decision I received.LSATWIZ wrote:All due respect, if this cycle is the guide, Minnesota and WUSTL are not happening.lawfreak wrote:Thanks for sharing!!!kjadkins wrote:In case anyone is still wondering how they can expect to fare with regard to LSP's predictions, I have a few more notifications to report (I also included ones still pending).
Deny
1 Pending (Columbia)
Consider
1 Deny (UVA)
2 Wait-lists (Georgetown & GW)
2 Pending (Cornell & Vanderbilt)
Strong Consider
2 Admits (Minnesota & W&M)
2 Pending (WUSTL & Emory)
Admit
5 Admits (W&L, Alabama, Wake Forest, George Mason, & Cincinnati)
3 Pending (Villanova, Temple, & Richmond)
Emory, nobody knows yet.
W&M is very possible.

Re: Is law school predictor really accurate?
I've gotten accepted into one "Consider" and one "Deny" so far. I don't think it's all that accurate but it is a good starting point if all you have is your GPA & LSAT score to go on.

Re: Is law school predictor really accurate?
This is what LSP looks like so far to this splitter:
Weak Consider: Admit, Waitlist, Waitlist, Pending, Pending
Consider: Waitlist, Waitlist, Deny, Deny, Pending
Strong Consider: Waitlist, Pending, Pending
Admit: Admit, Waitlist, Deny, Pending, Pending
The only reason I got into a weak consider is because I have an engineering degree and work experience and interview well and it's NU.

You are a URM. Lawschoolpredictor sucks for URM's and splitters.styx491 wrote:I've gotten accepted into one "Consider" and one "Deny" so far. I don't think it's all that accurate but it is a good starting point if all you have is your GPA & LSAT score to go on.

Re: Is law school predictor really accurate?
Yup. I hate it when a splitter/reverse splitter/URM says that lawschoolpredictor wasn't accurate for them. There should be a notification on the top of that website telling people to go to lawschoolnumbers if they want to predict their cycle as a splitter/reverse splitter/URM.drummerboy wrote:sucks meaning unpredictable i assume?

I had:
1 Consider-Pending
1 Strong Consider-Admitted
Everything else "Admit"--1 Rejection, 3 Admits, 3 Pending(2 likely WL/Reject Yield Protects)

Re: Is law school predictor really accurate?
Agree. I totally changed my application plan once I saw LSN. Then again, what you really need to do is research the type of student that gets into each school, and compare yourself to that profile. But you can't do that for every single school.FiveSermon wrote:Yup. I hate it when a splitter/reverse splitter/URM says that lawschoolpredictor wasn't accurate for them. LSP is still useful as a starting point for splitters/etc, because the WC/C/SC range it gives is still an accurate indication of the type of school you should be applying to. It's good to know generally where your numbers stand. If your highest WC is #25 and your lowest SC is #75, that helps you know where to focus your research.

Re: Is law school predictor really accurate?
LSP is not even close to accurate for splitters IMO the further you get away from the 25% GPA. For example
3 decisions so far
1. Admit - Admit - not a huge surprise
2. Consider 42% - Straight up Deny.
3. Deny 16% - Admit
I never really realized how bad LSP is until you start looking at school's LSAC graphs. IMO a better predictor would be a site that uses these graphs (i realize some schools dont publish them) with LSN factored in a little. For splitters its almost absolutely useless because it comes down to each school's preference to stash splitter GPAs under the 25% while getting a boost in 75% LSAT - some schools dont even mess with it while some schools love it.

Re: Is law school predictor really accurate?
First of all, according to lawschoolpredictor, they take into consideration the "splitter/reverse splitter/URM" factor and apply a boost or decrease as necessary (which is why I'm hoping that even though I'm an extreme reverse splitter of 158/3.95, that it may be somewhat accurate for me). On your lawschoolnumbers advice, I find it pretty much useless becuase there are virtually no people with my numbers on that site and the people that are similat, did not apply to the same schools as me.FiveSermon wrote:Yup. I don't know how accurate it is. I'll be posting LSP predictions v. Reality in my LSN profile when all is said and done. Thus far, it's been somewhat accurate.

Re: Is law school predictor really accurate?
Hi lawfreak,
Me and you are pretty much numbers twins (I'm 157/3.95ugpa). However, I'll disclose that I have a 4.0 ggpa and I am Cuban, which may or may not make me a URM. Here are my results this cycle:
(With the URM box checked)
Deny:
Georgetown: denied
Michigan: no word
Cornell: no word
Weak Consider:
UVA: waitlist
Penn: no word
Consider:
George Washington: waitlist
Admit:
American: admitted
Maryland: admitted
Northeastern: admitted
UNC (in-state): no word
I would say my cycle has been spot on as a URM in Law School Predictor.

Thanks deecee for sharing. As a side, if you mean by "ggpa" my GPA in my major, I also have a 4.0.

Re: Is law school predictor really accurate?
I meant grad school gpa (ggpa) and undergrad gpa (ugpa). But, if you have a strong application I think that LSP will be a pretty useful tool for you. If your application lacks a lot of softs, I think it could be overly optimistic, though.lawfreak wrote:Thanks deecee for sharing. Re: Is law school predictor really accurate?
IMO with our stats well probably be pleasantly surprised at admits, but will they come with scholly offers. I know the lower tier schools do, but what are the chances of getting scholly money at the more desirable schools with lsat below the magical TLS number of, 160 ? This is a very significant dilemma for me and retake retake .... begins to rear its ugly head.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
