That's strange. I bet it's because of what happened to GW a year or two ago where they went down 8 spots because their PT program had lower LSATs then the FT, and US News started factoring both PT and FT scores in their ranking.
I think it also has something to do with the number of applicants per program. There are likely many more applicants in the FT program, so that is a more realistic view of the numbers.

But I'd guess as people begin to realize the "investment" aspect of going to law school, PT programs will become more popular. I think people will start treating law school like business school. Work a bit, gain experience, save some cash, enter a night program, keep working during school. I predict more PT programs will be created, and the "rankings" criteria will change.

I hate saying this because I would hate anyone telling me to do it. But I'd consider a re-take. It's something I might be forced to do, myself. The in-state tuition of Florida and Florida St. are basically scholarships without conditions. They are hard to ignore. Now I don't have any insight into the Florida market, so maybe the lower-tier schools will give you basically the same chances in this economy. It's still all about connections/networking.

Early decision, URM status, legacy boost, and extraordinary softs probably account for most of acceptances below 25%.

The retake argument is all good and dandy if you can honestly predict that your score will be 160 plus. I too hear this suggestion over and over again. It appears that job prospects depend on a lot more than school prestige. Take the case of the Penn graduate struggling to find a job and hoping she had gone to a lower ranked school.

I agree with you. The school does not matter. It's about experience and connections. My main concern in all my applications is the investment. If money isn't an issue for you, then this is not a concern. But if your #'s are really close to a school where you can save $50,000 in debt, taking another chance on the LSAT could be an option.

Yeah, you're right, the overwhelming data that completely suggests the opposite is all false.

I got into a school with an LSAT score that was at 25th percentile, but the difference between median and 25th percentile was only like 2 points. Also, my GPA was very close to the 75th percentile. Not a URM btw.

Congrats on VANDY . I do agree with you on debt. Money is a definite concern. Thats why I wanted to know if FIU is at that poor of a school in terms of job prospects in Miami versus U Of M that I shouldnt even consider going there despite the low ticket and possible scholarship

Congrats on that. I guess the next question is do you know about any scholarships and are you willing to attend at full price, if not?

I still think it's odd to see schools with the very close 25/75% LSAT splits. I would assume at these schools, GPA is the differentiator.

I got a scholarship from Michigan with 168 / 3.94 -- It is a little bit weird though because the median is 169 with a 25th of 168.

It doesn't necessarily mean this. Maybe there are just a whole lot of people that score right at the 25th percentile and barely any below it.

Yes this is very true. Many times, schools will not let in people much below the 25th, even though theoretically they could let in the bottom 25th at lower numbers.
