An LSAT score of 174 may be above all law schools' medians. Your chances for admission to several, probably most, Top 14 law schools are very strong.

P.S. No need to retake a 174 unless you want to open your own LSAT tutoring company, in my opinion.

Yea I'm not planning on retaking. Just wondering what my chances are with that score I just received!

I have a friend who went to LSE with a similar LSAT and is now at Columbia. I think she had similar marks, but I don't understand that system of grading.

Since you won't have an LSAC GPA (assuming that you never went to school in the US), the only hard factor you have is the LSAT, which is good. Your grades will be looked at, but since they won't be factored into the schools' rankings, they won't matter as much as if you had an LSAC GPA, and they seem good enough. Not as easy to be sure with an international applicant, but I don't think you should have much of a problem hitting most of the T14 below HYS. I'd absolutely still apply to HS, and maybe Y for the hell of it.

I'm not sure how you're cycle will go but if you could keep the foreign applicants thread updated that would be really useful. All you have is first year grades? Are you in Second year? THe main thing I would be worried about is your lack of grades to report. I'm not sure how you are getting projections of what your degree classification will be with only on year under your belt, but thats cool you already know that you'll do well.

Obviously that lsat means a lot but if you've only got 1st year to report I could see that being an issue.

i think you should post on the official foreign applicants thread asking for people who went to school in England. I think there might be a few out there who can shed some light for you. I'm only familiar with my school and we had exams at the end of both our honors years.

I'm sure your cycle will go fine but it may be worth waiting to see what classification you get. If you get a first then that 174 opens up a whole lot of doors, with a 2:1 you're still doing great but you don't want to say ED Chicago with your 174 and at the end of the year get a first and know you had a shot at HYS. That said if you do end up with a 2:1 EDing CCN is probably your best bet.

Yep, I wouldn't ED. Some places might not want to take the risk, but I think T3 and T14 schools should know what's going on. You really could use the lack of marks to your advantage, unlike the rest of us poor foreign applicants who have to try desperately to convince adcomms that our grades are much high than they seem

Good luck!
