Resume Q - Should I add my recently started website?

Post by pinkgrapefruit » Sat Jan 08, 2011 12:08 am

I recently launched a website/e-mail newsletter for college women and recent grads (recent as in literally a few days ago.) So far, however, I've recruited a team of 12 college writers and editors, and the site has gotten over 1,500 hits in 4 days. I'm planning on running the site as a side project at least until law school this fall.

My question is - should I include this website in my resume for the remaining schools that I apply to? It seems rather dumb because I barely launched the site, but I was just wondering if it's something law schools would want to look at...

Does it look professionally done? If so absolutely yes.

If it's a shitty word press monstrosity no.

Only TLS can be the judge. Post the link.

Erm, I wouldn't exactly call it professional. But hopefully it's not too crappy.

I'd add it. But you need more content.

Are you kidding me?! You have Mark Twain quotes and everything! ADD IT!

Every other sentence on this blog screams win.

After re-reading my post, it sounds pretty sarcastic. I am not being sarcastic, I literally believe ad-comms are going to eat this thing up (pardon the horrible pun).

I like it. A little proof reading is currently in order though.

LOL thanks, Shooter.

Yeah, I'll definitely be adding more content once I finish apps. Some of the writers have started submitting stories, but I haven't gotten around to editing or posting them yet because, well, I'm working on apps.

Thanks, guys! I'll probably just add it to the list of extracurriculars to show them I've done something after graduation besides work.

I own like 20 websites. Maybe I should have included 1?

I don't think it matters.

Yes post it. Awesome differentiator.

Also, cupcakes please.

edit: I meant mention it on your resume. Way cooler than the usual "I was president of a club full of people trying to bulk up their resume" stuff. And more cupcakes please.

Ah, the great resume debate continues. (ahduth takes off his glasses, puts his elbows on the desk, rubs his eyes...)

What could possibly be better for your resume than:

1) I made a website! I'm vetting writers and editors and everything.
2) Here's a link.

And all of a sudden the adcom's screen explodes with cupcakes. Seriously. This is better than sending physical cupcakes.
