Law School's Lack of Employment Prospects

Postby headache » Wed Jan 05, 2011 3:32 pm

I was reading an article on how useless liberal arts majors are, and someone commented:

"Do NOT go to law school, unless Yale or Stanford. Even Harvard is having trouble placing their law grads, and I mean at any salary point. Below that threshold, getting a job are very long odds.
Best,
NESCAC / law school grad who can't get a job at Barnes and Nobles. "

1. Do you think all T14s guarantee jobs provided you do not fail?
2. Are you worried about employment prospects after law school?
3. If you weren't applying for law school, what would you be doing?

1. Depends what you mean by fail, considering nobody really "fails" out. T14's don't guarantee jobs and someone has to make up the bottom 1/2 of the class.

2. Someone who isn't is an idiot or goes to Yale.

3. Working, which I'm doing now.

Did the comment really read "Barnes and Nobles"? Because that could be part of the problem.

it also could have to do with the phrase "getting a job are very long odds"

1. No, but that'd be a heck of a deal.
2. No, I am that special snowflake you're always hearing about.
3. Trolling TLS, of course.
