I cancelled the lsat twice. How bad does this look? The second time I cancelled I was genuinely ill, but I have no medical documentation to prove it. Can I still write a convincing lsat addendum?

Don't know until you share your proposed addendum. I have read that law school admissions officers get concerned with more than one cancellation because it might show a pattern.

Well even if you couldn't (and you definitely could), like another poster above said schools may be concerned about a second cancel. So, one may be required regardless. If you do come back with your addendum, I'm sure people on here (including me) would be willing to critique it. One hint of advice: try not to "make excuses" but rather be sure to just explain your situation. That being said, your third sitting, provided you score relatively high for where you want to go, will speak loudest of all.

"Please do not view my two cancelled scores as a negative pattern. I fell ill during the October 2010 administration and as a result, decided to cancel my score because I believed that it would not be reflective of my actual ability. Please take this into consideration. Thank You."

Would this (or something like it) be sufficient?

"Please do not view my two cancelled scores as a negative pattern. I fell ill during the October 2010 administration and as a result, decided to cancel my score because I believed that it would not be reflective of my actual ability. Please take this into consideration. Thank Yyou."

Yes, and it's definitely better to keep it shorter, like you have. Although, a couple caveats: if you do use the past tense of "cancel," I've heard that technically both spellings are correct, but I've been taught several times that it's canceled with one "l." Second, if you do call attention to both cancels, you may want to work an explanation for your other cancel in as well.
