My stats are 3.70/166. Should I ED to GTown or wait to hear from USC first? I know that I want to work in LA upon graduation. I already got rejected from UCLA ED, which was a bit surprising. I was hoping for at least a waitlist. I guess my question has two parts:

1) Do I have a chance GTown ED?
2) If I EDed to GTown and got in would I be shooting myself in the foot? I heard from a 3L at GTown that getting work in CA would require a lot of my own work. I might get sucked into the DC/NY markets, which I don't want to happen. Only 8% of the class ends up in CA.

So what's better for LA job? GTown or USC? Thanks!

Not to be harsh, but there's a good chance you could get into neither.

What are your backups?

Ya, I totally see that as a possibility. I've applied to several other schools (ND, BU, BC (targets), Loyola LA, Hastings, IU-Bloomington, (safeties) etc.). I suppose my question is for the best case scenario.

Retake LSAT. You're probably not going to get either.

You'll be just above USC's GPA median and just below their LSAT median... which doesn't bode well, but it doesn't mean you ought not apply. It's just something of a dice roll. USC's magic number seems to be 167 these days.

If I were you I would apply to USC immediately, and plan on taking the February LSAT. That way, if you don't get in right away (and there's a good chance you wont), you can use your new (hopefully better) LSAT score to get off the wait list.

It sounds like you're determined to start next fall, or else I might suggest you wait.

Those number are pretty good for USC, depending on his PS.

OP, I'd pick USC over GULC for LA work any day. Much smaller class size and much bigger alumni network in LA.

Yea, I was really impressed with the way USC takes care of its alumni and their program in general. And that's coming from a Bruin.

I'd take USC over Gtown any day. LA>>>>>>>>>DC. Too bad neither accepted me

I already retook the LSAT and am not gonna do it again (159 first time). I've heard this before, that bottom of the t14 isn't as national as I thought. Thanks for the advice. Good luck to everyone.

Depends how sure you are about working in LA. If you're 100%, go to USC. If you're not, go to GULC because it'll give you more options overall. However, since you're probably getting into USC and not GULC, the choice is going to make itself.
