Is this appropriate to list on my resume?

Post by URMdan » Sun Dec 19, 2010 4:09 pm

I'm fine tuning my bullets on my resume and wanted to know if this would be appropriate to list under my Attorney General internship

• Assisted prosecutors with trial prep matters, specifically DUI cases - i.e. drafted motion in limine to exclude Preliminary Breath Test in case number 2009CTFxxxxx

the motion in limine to exclude the PBT was just one motion that I drafted, it wasn't part of a series. I want to include a specific example of what I did, hence the docket number

I wouldn't include the case number. It's not appropriate and doesn't add anything to your app.

Assisted prosecutors with trial prep matters for DUI case by drafting motion in limine to exclude preliminary breath tests. (add additional sentence or bullet about what you did here)

The docket number is an unnecessary detail. It just takes up space IMO, doesn't add a thing. I'm also personally not a fan of bullet points. I consulted with a couple of recruiters that I was friendly with at firms and at the DOJ. They all told me that they preferred a narrative resume (i.e. paragraphs) and that it was just easier for them to read over quickly that way.

I can send you a copy if you'd like...procrastinating on work I need to do, just pm me.

Do not list the case number.
It's useless.

And maybe illegal??
