If i applied ED can i switch it to RD?
What if i was already WL as ED?

reason being i feel my december lsat is gonna open a lot more doors for me (higher ranked schools) more $$ from similar ranked schools. I still like my ED school but dont want to be binded there.

I have to send in my "continued interest as a WLer" letter this week.

Doesn't being WLed release you from the ED obligation to attend?

I checked UCLA's ED website and they did not mention anything
"Denied and WL applicants can continue to consider other law schools"

it only mentions what you must do if you are admitted, so would a WL/in be the same as an Admit.

Im considering creating a fake email and asking them.

They make this handy device that does something similar. It's pretty crazy. It's like a hand-sized object on which you dial numbers. These numbers correspond to a particular place in the world. Someone from that place picks up the device and you're allowed to communicate back and forth using your own voice. It's a great invention and I don't know why they didn't think of it sooner.

Sorry, is the above what the website actually said?
If so, I am pretty sure you are no longer bound to the school, even if you were to be accepted later on from the waitlist. I think that is the point of them including "applicants can continue to consider other law schools." It is a nicer way of them saying you no longer have to go here if a better offer arises.

First, thanks for the response!

I quoted that from the ED - Contract that i signed and sent.

The following came with my WL email: "Applicants admitted from the wait list will be notified immediately over the phone, and they will be given a few days to decide on our offer. If you have not heard from us, you may assume that you are still on the wait list for possible consideration. Applicants not granted admission from the wait‐list will be notified over the course of the summer, through mid/late August."

However this W/L email had nothing to do with my ED position.

If you are given a few days to decide on the offer, you are no longer bound by the ED contract which requires you to attend.

You don't even need to go to that trouble. Just dial *67 and then the number of the admissions office. This will block your number for that call.

Yeah, you are def. no longer bound to the ED agreement. As someone said before, if you were still bound you wouldn't be given a few days to decide whether you want to accept or not.
Good luck, I hope your waitlist turns into an acceptance!

if you want to be sure, contact the school over the phone, then put it in writing that you want to go to RD. You have to do this before you are accepted ED ( skimmed this, not really sure if you are WL or pending). If you are WL, I would still double check. Make sure to save a copy of all written correspondance for your records.
