USC only reviews top applicants first?

Post by HopefulFish » Fri Dec 03, 2010 6:44 pm

Been complete since early October and still only complete. When can we expect to go under review? I'm at their median/slightly below median category.

It doesn't seem so. My status checker updated today with "Decision Finalized" and I am 167 3.84. I submitted mid September.

i still can't believe this.... thought USC did DF's in batches. wonder why you are the only one?

back on subject: you are at or above both medians, whereas OP is not... so maybe that has something to do with it. speculating.

Ya, really strange that no one else has reported in with the status checker change. On a side note, their web site says they don't mail decisions until the middle of December anyway.

Don't think so--I'm at median GPA and >75% LSAT, been complete since 11/1.

I'm >75% on both, went in review within a couple days of submitting. I don't really see much of a pattern. And TLS is too small of a [self selecting] sample to know for sure anyway.

Way over the LSAT median, way under the GPA median: stuck at complete 11/1.

I went in review the same day as submission I believe. I don't know how USC chooses to review the applicants -- seems strange.

I am going to bet it's based on index numbers.

ETA: I was the same. Same day.

What is index numbers? How do we find ours?

looks like the bunch of early applicants with low numbers are, as of today, going under review.

So the OP has been "complete" for 2 months now without being put in review...that doens't bode too well for those of us who submited our apps at the end of November. Maybe I'll get a decision by May

OP has nothing to do with your timeline. I went complete and in review the same day.

was just being facetious, but the fact that others have gone complete/review the same day while OP, for one, has waited 2 months without going under review does make it highly likely that USC uses index numbers. I'm not sure if they admittedly do or not (I'm pretty sure BC, for example, openly admits this), but there you go...

If you are signed up for the december/feb test they will not review your file until you take it..even with a prior score.

...unless you specifically tell them to review your app without waiting for the new score.

I am not signed up, nor was signed up, for the December LSAT.
