Application revoked?

Postby canuck » Wed Dec 01, 2010 10:05 am

I was just accepted to Columbia (yay). Unfortunately, I am totally screwed for finals starting next week (mostly thanks to TLS distracting all semester).
Seeing as you have all ruined by semester  , could someone let me know what it would take for my ED acceptance to be revoked. Would a single C do it? A fail? Dropping below a certain CGPA?

Thanks!

Start studying dude. It's impossible to know without knowing your GPA

What does it have to do with my current GPA? I'm just wondering if anybody knows Columbia's policy.

Schools have cutoffs. Lets say you had a 3.0 or something and got in somewhere and if your cum gpa drops below a 3.0 maybe they would revoke your acceptance.

First of all, congratulations!
Secondly, why not call the Admissions Office and ask? You don't have to give your name or any information, just ask them what the policy is. (I'm guessing you'll be fine - now get off TLS and go study!) 8)

Congratulations on your acceptance! Unless they explicitly state that you must maintain your GPA, it won't make any difference. Just don't send in your updated transcript if it will lower your GPA. I'm not sure about Columbia but UVA has previously told students not to update their transcripts if it will lower the GPA.

This. After you graduate, send a final transcript/proof of degree directly to CLS. Don't update LSAC. Your LSDAS will stay the same, and unless you screw up your ability to graduate, you should be okay.

That said, best way to be sure is study your ass off and do at least okay this semester.

OK. So this morning I received this response from the admissions office:

"The Admissions Committee does not set a specific minimum GPA for admitted students to maintain, however, it is expected that students maintain their usual level of academic performance."

Very ambiguous. My usual level of academic performance is straight As. If I get a few Bs could they revoke my acceptance?! I don't know why they can't just be specific about it.

Based on their response, I would assume that as long as your grades do not drop substantially, (straight A's to straight C's) you will be fine.

Congrats on the acceptance!
