This is so flawed in so many ways.

I agree. For instance, imagine if the law schools themselves used some sort of blind test to select students based on their aptitude instead of just undergrad GPA and undergrad prestige. Anarchy!

National names on one list with the rest having regional rankings per market.

If rankings came down to tests, I think you would see law schools teaching for the test rather than the best interests of the students, which is exactly what happens when K-12 schools are held to standardized tests. Believe me, it is not a good thing.

Have the US News site reshuffle the list randomly each time someone goes to the site.

Ill make an attempt. The ranking formula should be Raw Score = Biglaw placement + 1.5 (Article III clerkship placement) + 2 (Academia placement)

This is a really good idea assuming that people aren't idiots and wont overpay for law school. Unfortunately, that assumption is probably false lol.

Argh! You beat me to the Zuckerberg joke!

Then you took the idea, which I maintain I came up with first, and turned it into a popular website while my identical twin brother and I were rowing in England (How f'ing weird was that movie?).

That was a joke about the LSAT.

edit: It occurred to me just now that USNWR rankings actually are based in small part on bar passage rates. So, ratings already do come down to tests. I have never actually been to law school, but I am pretty sure few would construe what they do there as teaching specifically for the bar exam.

bump.

good answers so far. but how could you develop a system that would actually track real employment statistics? It seems like it would be pretty difficult.
