i would not write it. If you get WL, then write the essay. otherwise just send it and forget it.

If I recall correctly, the "Why Illinois" essay is only supposed to be 200 words. With your numbers I don't really think skipping the "essay" would hurt you at all. At the same time, its only 200 words, which really doesn't require much effort.

seems like writing anything would be helpful, as long as you don't come off as a dick

it doesn't seem like Illinois YP's much anyway
