I met my interviewer at a Starbucks during the work day. I wore a button down shirt, tie, nice pants, and black shoes. I was more dressed than he was.
If I were interviewing at his firm, it would have been a different story.

I would suggest the tuxedo t-shirt. It says "I'm formal, but I know how to have a good time."
