Interviews

Post by lawskyandhutch » Tue Nov 09, 2010 4:46 am

How much does interviewing help? I'm applying to Northwestern (171, 3.8ish), and I don't want to interview because I'm very busy. How much does it help at other top 14 places? I basically don't want to do it unless it has a large positive effect (say, increases chances of getting in by 10%).

Do it at Northwestern. It's strongly encouraged and not doing it will hurt your application in all likelihood by 10% or more. I still think you get in either way without a shitty app, because your numbers are kind of in their sweet spot, but why the hell would you risk it?

The rest of the t14 doesn't really interview, except by request in certain situations where they are concerned about yield protect or the applicants qualifications, etc. Always take them in these circumstances or else you can consider yourself WL.

Thanks! I guess I should for NW then. It's annoying, because I think I'm busier this year than ever before by a large amount.
