You can drive right up 95 and grab a rail station with plenty of ez parking on the Franklin line (ie Walpole, Norwood) and go right into South Station from there. Getting on the Red line is ez. 50 minute trip or so all told, no traffic, you can get some reading done, and the rail cars have WiFi.
It's longer time-wise than driving and you have the T schedule you're stuck with, but I've stacked the pros and cons over and over and the MBTA comes out on top.

No. I plan to commute from RI. There are several people, including my boss, who tell me that the drive isn't as bad as one would think.
I'm in the metro west area. Trust me, if you're talking Suffolk the drive will suck balls and you'll get gangbanged paying for parking. Come close enough to grab the commuter rail to South Station and its two stops off the Red Line. Suffolk has a student pass you can buy that will cut your costs, and then you get to study on the train.

It's really easy to get off the commuter and onto the red line. For about a week before I had housing in the city, I was taking the commuter in every day to South Station from South Attleboro. It wasn't too bad! Sometimes during rush hour you can't get a seat and have to stand for a good portion of the trip though :( On the plus side if you're not commuting during rush hour you'll have a couple hours of studying a day!

Skimming through the posts, so I'm not sure if I missed the answer to this question.
How long should I wait before I send an email to the dean/financial aid office for possible scholarship money? A week?
Just got accepted and my stats are 156/3.4 I wonder if I'll get any at all.

You will find out later in March. This is what they told me. Only a handful of people got money, and the office told me that they decided to now wait until March for everyone.

Okay, but I've read that some people have been successful in sending emails to Suffolk and getting scholarships, 25k or more. I guess I'll wait a week and see if anything comes in the mail as I've heard it comes separately.

I have been waiting since I have gotten accepted in December. They won't budge until March unless you have over a 160. Trust me. I tried, and I have an awesome GPA.

Not to s/he said - he said, but I have a >median LSAT and a GPA at median not a URM, out of undergrad for 2 years, they gave me a nice offer when I emailed Dean Ellis.

Edited: Sorry for being vague, I reluctantly share stats with anyone. Bottom line, email the Dean, it's worth a shot.

I tried emailing everyone. I guess they just don't care for me. They told me that everyone now will have to wait until March. I don't get why they were so stone cold with me when people with worse stats than mine got money every other year.

Snail mail. You and me both man. I was accepted in December. It seems some people emailed them and got money, but they told me they just did that for a handful of people early on and won't continue it. They said now I will just need to wait until March. I don't get why they told me that yet they clearly gave some people money already. Oh well, I tried I guess.

Yea i was accepted in early December as well and was hoping to hear back about possible scholarships within a few weeks like many of the other schools had done. Apparently time to play the waiting game...again

Sucks man. My ego is hurt a bit since some people simply emailed them and got results. I must suck. :( Right now Suffolk is one of my only options since I would like to think I could get decent money there. I sent my FAFSA and Need Access along with everything else. I am really needy, so I hope Suffolk comes through. I liked how Suffolk had the Need Access app. Most schools don't have it, and they do not care about financial need.

Absolutely know what you mean! I haven't done the need acces app yet because I didn't really like the idea of paying for possible future financial need help, which is no guarantee...and I have many deposits due April 1, so I hope to hear back fairly soon

I'm sorry that you're having such a hard time jaydizzle! Did you apply to peer schools like new england, roger williams, franklin pierce and quinnipiac? if you did did you get any money from them? because I applied to all those and got big scholarships from them and used that to persuade suffolk into giving me a scholarship. I think you should keep being persistant with it, was it dean ellis that said they weren't reviewing it until march or financial aid?

and Ghenghis Khan I got my offer via email first then snail mail after I corresponded back and forth with dean ellis for a while, and I got $35,000 per year with a 159 so there is definitely still hope for you both!

Thanks for the advice! Think it's worth trying to negotiate with Dean Ellis or better to wait it out and see if they offer it?

I applied to QU and various others. QU gave me a little, but they really were stingy with me since they see I am from CT. I emailed them, and I am trying to get them to up my award. I emailed Dean Ellis, and she wouldn't even respond. Financial aid finally emailed me as she probably told them to, and they told me I need to wait until March. I am going to be pretty pissed if I spent $28 on this Need Access crap and told them about my parent's mortgage and all that jazz for nothing. They were the only school to ask for this. I hope to God that if they actually read this, they will realize that I am pretty damn poor.

If this helps at all, I was accepted on the 14th of February and received a scholarship offer in the mail today, dated Feb. 24.

Cool, maybe they are finally getting on it. With those stats of yours, you must have done pretty well. Did you send them your Need Access and Fafsa too, or was this just purely merit cash?

I did send in the Need Access and Fafsa, but the scholarship offer was strictly academic and did not have anything to do with need.

I applied last cycle, but around late March I sent Dean Ellis an email with my other scholarship offers and they upped my scholarship as well as offering a grant. I say continue to email Dean Ellis.

Any advice for me? I emailed her and others. I am getting no where. Your stats are better than mine, so they probably don't give a shit about me. Can someone help look over my statement that I want to send to the dean? As my cycle is almost over, I really need to get some money at Suffolk. I want to go here.
