Hey everyone, I was just wondering about my situation... I'm very interested in going to an American law schools and I certainly have the numbers to be competitive in admissions. However, a big part of my personal statement focuses on my background as a Canadian and how that's motivated me to pursue law. It also implies that I intend to return to Canada eventually. Is this a no-no? I feel like reviewers will be left asking the question, "So why not go to a Canadian school?" (The answer is that I the American schools I'm applying to are some of the very best in the world and frankly I think I would get a better education there than at the best Canadian alternative - but I wouldn't put that in my personal statement. Also, I'm interested in joint law-public policy programs, which are not as common in Canada.)

By the way, I am aware of the hurdles of going to law school in the US and coming back to Canada. I'm not wondering about that, just about how adcomms view this kind of thing.
