Columbia Admissions Blog -- observation

Post by ComatoseClown » Sun Oct 31, 2010 5:58 pm

http://blogs.law.columbia.edu/admissions/

I saw this and noticed something. From the first paragraph:
"Some of you have already completed your applications, while the majority have not – either way, we look forward with anticipation to learning about your trials and tribulations, work experience, special talents, and life changing episodes."

Why would the Dean of Admissions write trials and tribulations as the first thing in that list? To me that gives off a vibe of sarcasm, and kinda makes me iffy about their admissions office; it seems as if they're "sick" of applicants who may have had trials in the past or something, and out of apathy/sarcastic tone they include that as the first "item of anticipation" in that sentence.

All this said, I'm not a law school applicant this year...it's just something I noticed and wanted to share.

in my experience, columbia has often given off a tone of douchiness and arrogance

Really, what exactly did they do in your experience with them?

I hope you're preparing a detailed dossier on what you dislike about the "vibe" of the CLS admissions team. I look forward to reading your report.
