Thoughts on evaluations? Forum

How do you guys feel about evaluations? Do you think they can really help in anyway? I figured that, besides my LORs, I could get a solid evaluation from my job. On the other hand, evaluations seem sort of....timid i'd say. They seem a little forced and just assigning numbers to these characteristics of you.

I figured that it would just be another chance for a professor to recommend me. If they don't want to read it, they don't have to. But if I'm on the borderline for a scholarship or admission, it could help. It couldn't hurt.

I asked the Yale blog, and this is the response I got:

We are accepting the LSAC evaluations, but they are not required. Letters of
recommendations are still much more important, provide more useful information
than evaluations, and carry more weight. Thus, it is perfectly acceptable not
to submit any evaluations, especially if you already have several
recommendations. It is up to you to decide what you want to submit. My only
recommendation to you is to not go overboard by submitting a large number of
recommendations (for example 4) and then another large batch of evaluations.
