How Many Essays Do I Need?

Im applying to Columbia and only see the request for the standard, broad essay they ask for (1-2 pages). I've heard mention of "Why X" essays and addendums - is it suggested that I write a "Why Columbia?" essay? Just looking for some general guidance here.

no, HYS and CCN schools do not need you to tell them why they are great schools.
