LOR vs EVAL... same shizzle or nizzle?

Post by NV53A » Wed Oct 13, 2010 10:57 pm

Is it redundant to get both a LOR and EVAL from the same professor? My recommender told me the EVAL form is pretty informative and that he has written a detailed letter on the empty space. I think he feels LOR will pretty much be a copy of the EVAL form.

In most situations getting an LOR and Evaluation from the same professor would be fine, I think that it's what most schools expect. But in the specific situation that you describe it's probably best to get someone else so as not to wear on the evaluator's patience.
