Fee waivers

Last cycle I got lots of letters/emails giving me fee waivers for various schools. I decided to put off applying (other than applying to a few last cycle).

Anyway, this cycle I'm applying to a whole bunch. Is there a way to get fee waivers for this cycle, since presumably I'm not a significantly less appealing candidate than I was last year? Or do they only send them out right after you've joined lsac?

Thanks.

You could apply through LSAC for a fee waiver; this will then give you a need-based waiver through most schools. If you are looking for a CAS waiver due to academics, that varies by school. If you are interested in the schools that sent you one, you can always e-mail their admissions team and politely ask if they are still offering it. Since this is a whole new cycle though, I can't guarantee they'd still stand. I think the LSAC waiver would be your best bet, though. :)

After I went into my CRS profile and updated my application year to 2011, I started receive the same waivers everyone else has been receiving. You may want to check to see if your CRS year is still set to 2010 which would exclude you from CRS searches.

If that is the problem, correct it now and you should probably receive the same waivers when they search after Oct score is released.

+1. I was the same way (decided to put off applying) and was bummed about my lack of fee waivers this year. Updated my CRS and have already gotten a few. I expect that once the October scores go out there'll be a wave of fee waivers going out, so you might want to do this sooner rather than later! Good luck.

Thanks everyone!

How do I change my CRS from 2010 to 2011. I don't see that on my lsac.org account.

Log into LSAC. Go to My Account - Profile - CRS. Click Edit CRS Preferences, change Expected law school enrollment year to 2011. Make sure CRS is turned on by check yes to agree to release info.

How quickly after the Oct. score is released do you think waivers will be offered?

Register for an LSAC forum (a little trick I heard from an LSAC rep). I'm in the same boat, took the above step of changing the year, and registered for a forum, and I have started receiving them again.

You could also always ask for them!

I didn't register for the forum and I received the same ones as others on the fourm, after changing the year FWIW.
