When should I apply if I'm taking the Dec. LSAT?

I have a 162 LSAT and a 3.9 GPA, but I'm retaking in Dec. I'm practicing at 164-166 (was practicing at 161-163 when I took the Feb. 09 one and got a 162. I know the mantra on here is wait 'til you get your score, but I don't usually do surprises when it comes to tests -- good or bad). I can't take the Oct. one because of work. Should I get my apps out now anyway or wait until I get my score? Also, how much will taking the Dec. LSAT hurt me?

I don't think the mantra on here is wait for your score.
I'd say apply to some places as soon as you have the app done and polished (they will hold looking at your file until they get your score but it's the only thing they will be waiting for)
If you score considerably higher/lower and need to add some schools once you get your score, then apply to those after you know what it is.

Applying in Dec. really puts you behind. I'd wait till next cycle to apply.

I know that Dec. puts me behind -- however, I already decided not to matriculate this year despite sending out 18 apps last year and getting a few hits. It's now or never for me. I know Dec. is late, but it's not too late I'm hoping for a few more hits than I got last year -- assuming, of course, that my LSAT is 165 after my retake. Plus, I'll have more work experience, too.
