Intelectual Property law with a masters degree in Biomed?

Postby japika » Sat Sep 18, 2010 10:06 pm

Chances,

GPA 3.49 (Upward trend of 4.00 last 2 semesters ~ 27 credit hours, 3.99 last 3 semesters ~ 35 credit hours)
LSAT - Not taken

Two bachelors degrees, Biology and Psychology.
Masters degree, Bio medicine.

I heard, the Intellectual property lawyers have/need PhD's... Is that true?

IP lawyers DO NOT NEED PhD's or Master's -- however, masters degrees are often preferred for only some patent jobs or firms, but should be very good assets in any IP firm.

Also note that there are other fields within IP, including trademarks, copyright, internet law, and other technology matters where a masters degree or PhD is not really helpful.

Dude cure a disease, make cool medical stuff or something else useful. IP is ridiculously boring. Why get a masters in something so technical and then go do something else. To answer your ambiguous question: a gpa is not enough to evaluate chances. You won't know until you figure out where you can go and then how well you do whilst there. Seriously though, go make some stuff to be patented instead of bein the dude who gives a shit about enforcing them.
