Double Major - LOR from both?

Post by Birdlaw » Thu Sep 09, 2010 7:08 pm

I am a history and psychology major, history is my primary major. My grades in both are equally strong, but I have enjoyed my history classes much more and have had a better rapport with my teachers. So far I have asked two of my history professors for a LOR, they easily have had me the most in class out of anyone (3x a piece, including a capstone), so would have the best LOR to write.

Does it look bad that I am a history and psychology major and not getting a LOR from a psychology professor? There are psychology professors that could write me one, but I don't think it would be nearly as strong as the other two (psychology classes piss me off because of the types of students that are in them, so I tend to just shut up during class and plug my ears.) So I'm curious if anyone has any advice or is having a similar problem.

Note: I apologize to any psychology majors if I offended you, I am sure you are not like the know-it-all, ass kissing, and stupid as hell students I have had the misfortune of being acquainted with. Clearly I have an axe to grind, but I go to an incredibly small school so its very easy for a few recurring students to ruin almost all my classes.

Schools won't care. Get the best written one you possibly can.

Why are you sure of that?

Edit: Just to answer the question, I concur with the above response. Schools won't care whether both your majors are represented. Pick the writers who know you best, and who will say the most positive, specific things about you.
