The only places I would consider going to law school is either in Boston, NY, and Chicago. I hate the west coast and I hate the south.

Also I'm paranoid about job prospects and would like to attend a t14 school. My gpa is around a 3.78 with a year left, and my PT scores seem to indicate that the t14 school I would best have a shot at is Cornell. I wouldn't have a realistic shot at Chicago, Columbia, NYU unless I perform better than my average on the real LSAT (which is unrealistic).

Thus it leaves me with Cornell.

I also love cold weather and upstate NY. Call me crazy but Ithaca is beautiful.

I would say you're going to need a 167 to have any shot at a T14, and a 168 for a good shot. If that doesn't pan out this year, work on raising your GPA above 3.8 and reapply next year.

Is there really a big difference between a 3.8 and a high 3.7x?

And yeh. I agree. Anything below a 168 would put me out of the running at all t14 other than Cornell and would probably WL/Reject me at Cornell.

Why don't you wait to take the lsat until you're performing your best.

A low 3.8x/168 would give you a chance at some other T14s like Berkeley, Michigan, Northwestern, and Georgetown.

I really wouldn't hope on it. I have what should be considered as negative softs. Rly, they don't even exist.

I'm gonna be kinda blunt here, why don't you just... do something? I seem to recall you making a handful of posts a while back about your lack of softs- have you done anything since then to add to your resume? Conventional wisdom on TLS is that softs don't matter, but if you truly have a blank page where your resume should be, well, I can't imagine it's going to do you any favors. Best not leave things to chance and get to volunteering/joining some clubs/working on your relationship with your LOR writers. You still have a month or so to make it happen, and something is better than nothing.

Anyway, I'll step off my soapbox. Good luck with the LSAT.

Wonder what would happen to the ranking? That's a shame, with a new building and all. Maybe their tuition is too high for what it is (it is).

Yeah, this is quite useful reference material here. 25/75 is great, but these medians seem to be what it's all about.

I'm surprised their medians barely even moved.

Penn went from 6th highest median GPA last year (behind HYS, V, B) to a tie for 4th with UVA this year, and they take far fewer reverse splitters than V. This is probably as high as they can go.

You would still be above the median everywhere and there is no school with a 75th at 3.93 or 3.94 as far as I can tell, so you won't even get hurt there.

Official numbers for NU finally posted: http://www.law.northwestern.edu/admissions/profile/

C/O 2013:
LSAT: 166-170-171
GPA: 3.4-3.8-3.9

C/O 2012:
LSAT: 166-170-172
GPA: 3.4-3.7-3.8

Looks like they traded a bit of LSAT at the top for a bump in the GPA median.

Also interesting: 88% of the class has 2+ years of WE, up from 84% the previous year.

Does anyone know (edit) Class of '13 median LSAT score and median GPA, and what would those numbers be?

Maybe this is an obvious question, but I haven't seen an answer posted to it yet! So much of the law school predictors are based on GPA vs. LSAT, but I was wondering how your undergrad institution factored in?

I have a 3.7 (85th percentile at my undergrad) but my undergrad was a top 10 liberal arts school. Does that make a difference in terms of how my GPA is viewed?

I got a 176 on my lsat, so I'm looking at t14, so maybe everyone else will be coming from pretty good schools as well, I was just wondering how big of difference that made, considering gpa is so important in admissions.

Thanks!
