Where, What, How?

Postby Nulli Secundus » Fri Aug 27, 2010 3:42 am

I ve been working at Turkish Court of Accounts (TCA) for the last 5 and half years.

TCA is the equivalent of Government Accountability Office (GAO) of the USA. A very prestigious job in Turkey, to give you an idea, when we go to a province for an audit assignment, before starting work we visit provincial governor, mayor etc; we are assigned chauffeured cars, whole nine yards.

My job also is related to practice of law, since what I do is checking whether transactions are made and financial statements were prepared according to applicable laws and regulations; if not, ask the responsible party for their defense and prepare a report including my opinion and the defense, which is then tried at TCA. So kind of a financial prosecutor.

But when I put this stuff in my personal statement, the adjectives used for the final result include, but are not limited to:

- Boring
- Pretentious
- Douchey
- Crap

So my question is, what is the best way of giving info about my job and how it constitutes a significant WE? If its PS, I am failing at it. Hralp!

Haha yeah I remember your first (and second, and third....) attempts... they were pretty bad, and people definitely didn't hesitate about pointing that out. Glad to see you didn't get all offended or anything though

Do you *have* to write about that job as the main topic? What about something else? I guess you could add a paragraph about the job to reinforce whatever point you end up making, but I feel like writing just about that job (which, while very prestigious, seems to be a very dry office job) is what's killing you at this point.

Why law school? Why an American JD? Who are you, as a person? I'm sure you must have other experiences that can relate to these subjects.
