Apply to law schools in november but take the LSATs in Feb?

Post by habouei » Tue Aug 17, 2010 9:42 pm

I am taking the LSATS in Feb of 2011 and I am wondering if it would be okay to apply to law schools in the fall (November-Decelmber) without my LSAT scores being recorded yet. Would that hurt my chances of admission?

Thanks!

Most schools will not count your app as complete until your lsat score is received, and will not look at it until it is complete

I understand that they won't look at it until the LSAT score as it is a very important part of the application. However, I am wondering if it would be better to wait until the next fall to apply or if it would still be okay to apply this fall for admission.

sry for the misunderstanding, you would most likely be better off waiting until next fall then, depending on where you are applying

It's better to wait, february is pretty late in the admissions cycle. However, if you have the money, you could always apply and then reapply if you're not happy with the results.

There are some applications that tell you to take it in december at the latest (although its not required, you can still apply its just discouraged). I think there are some schools that don't have rolling admission where it won't be as big a deal, but not sure. Short answer - yes it will negatively affect where you get in and if you get money.
