Checking more than one race box?

Postby Jarrett » Thu Aug 12, 2010 8:57 am

How does checking both of the White and African-American boxes in the optional racial idetification catagory on a law school aplicationect your URM status? If your a combination of races do you still get URM status? I'm asking because my mother is white and my father is black , so technically I consider myself both . I want to increase my chances of acceptance tothe T20 by any and all factors considered, however I dont want the adcom to say " Well since he's white and black , he's not full URM so we dont have to give him status and we will review his application against the majority" I dont know?... somebody with a valid factual information please pull my coat tail... :|

Don't worry about it. I check white and black boxes as well, and we count the same as a full black person would for URM purposes.

They see you the same way they see Barack Obama...as black. No worries.

This type of ambiguity perfectly exemplifies why classifying people by race is silly.

Agreed. White and Black is essentially black. Welcome to the URM club. 8)
