Just got off the phone with my UG dean. I'm encouraged!

It's been a while since I've been in school. I wanted to make sure my academic probation didn't count as a disciplinary infraction, so I figured I'd call up the ol' undergraduate office and see how they view such things. The good news: it doesn't! The better news: they definitely think I can get into law school! Why, in recent years, students with my grades have managed to get into top schools such as Cleveland State and even Michigan State!

The best part was when the dean said hey - I went to law school too. It's a great career choice.

I can just tell I'm on the right career path! 8) :D 8)

Okay no seriously everyone: it was pretty discouraging. I don't know what's more frustrating: when someone who has only seen my GPA recommends that I apply to Cleveland State and Michigan State, or when someone who has begged me to tell them my LSAT score (and I finally give in) recommends that I apply to NYU and Columbia. Such is a splitter's life. It could be worse: I could be a reverse splitter.

Could be worse, I know a guy paying sticker at Penn with a 175, and a solid GPA because he knows nothing about hte process and applying in Feb. He wants to do International law.

Not with a 175 LSAT and solid GPA (I think that is what DF was getting at)

Hey I've got a n00b question while y'all are all here.

Desert Fox wrote:He wants to do International law.

Is "international law" a euphemism for "have your job outsourced"?

Nobody knows what international law is, least of all those who want to practice it.

Yes.

To be fair, some international law shizz def goes down. It's def not a 'pretend field.'

Dude wtf I read the responses to this, read that you were being sarcastic, and actually laughed audibly. And I'm at work and my boss is in a pissy mood.

It's a thing that happens that at certain firms, in certain positions, you could possibly work on, but it's not a field, like IP Litigation, that you can actually seek out and get a job in.

But no, you're right. Def ridiculous to go in saying I want to be an 'international lawyer'

OP, I haven't seen your scores, but is NU out of reach given that a great deal of time separates you from UG?

NU is definitely in play and I'll have my application in to them in early October. And then we'll see what we'll see!
