I was just invited to join Teach For America (and I confirmed!), but I'd like to send out all of my applications this year. A few schools (Berkeley, Chicago, Oregon) offer application fee waivers to TFA corps members. Should I ask for fee waivers or would that reflect poorly on me since I am applying with the intention of deferring acceptance for two years? Any input would be appreciated because I am trying to limit my application fees as much as possible!

Has anyone received a fee waiver from Davis yet? I saw a post earlier that they said they would be "searching the database" sometime in late November, but haven't heard anything since.

Thanks for the advice, but I've already submitted 10 applications (all had fee waivers). I'm just a broke college student and don't want to pay for the Berkeley application haha. Also, pretty much every school will defer for TFA, so I'm not too worried. Thanks again, though!

Hmmm...Emory issued me a waiver code without any questions asked. I think you may have pissed someone off. lolmikey101 wrote:Emory was really weird. They responded to my request by asking me for documentation of my LSAT score and a pdf of my transcript with my GPA. Haven't heard back since they requested that. My numbers aren't super impressive either: 167/3.8.Dave Davely wrote:Is Emory only giving out a bare handful of fee waivers or what (and if so, to who?)? Despite within a few hours of the school and having very strong numbers by almost any standard, they 100% denied my request for a fee waiver. Emory is the only law school that I plan(ned) on applying to that didn't grant me a fee waiver.Blindc1rca wrote:Don't feel too bad. With Peace Corps (which got me like 15 waivers by itself) and a 3.85/170 Emory still rejected my request for a fee waiver.atresia wrote: My request got rejected by Emory. Surprising, considering my GPA is >75% and my LSAT is 2 points below the "166 wall."
Does anyone know what's up with Emory's fee waiver policy?

what's the point of a hidden waiver anyway? seems that the point of a waiver is to induce you to apply. If you don't know about it you might not even apply...

Anyway, question: Did you guys simply blanket every school you were interested in applying to with an email request or were you more selective with it?
I received unsolicited fee waivers from NYU, Michigan, Northwestern, and UVA.
Was hoping to get a few more T14 waivers but no such luck.

Well sometimes they mail them to your address (like Michigan), so this is a way of checking before you have access to your mail or something.jd20132013 wrote:what's the point of a hidden waiver anyway? seems that the point of a waiver is to induce you to apply. & I just asked schools who didn't give me them that are known to give them out. Worked for some, didn't work for others.

Re: Application Fee Waivers - Fall 2011 Applicants
This for all each school that I did not receive an unsolicited waiver from. I applied for them need based, however. Some made me fill out need based apps, others just waived because of merit. Ended up only having to pay for 4 schools out of 17.jd20132013 wrote:Anyway, question: Did you guys simply blanket every school you were interested in applying to with an email request or were you more selective with it?

Fee Waivers from SMU, WUSTL, and Emory in the last few days. Emory sent it en mass, asked the rest. Pitt also sent me one.

Received the Alabama fee waiver with the 20 iTunes downloads. I have a dilemma: I absolutely hate Alabama (UT fan), so which would be a better course of action for me? The goal is to hurt Alabama (albeit in a miniscule way )
1) apply, take their 20 songs, net $8, get accepted then not attend
2) don't apply

Hmm. I also got UIUC and Maryland fee waivers. I guess I'll apply.
Oh, haha, are these for everyone? I might be dumb. But they're free, so fuck it. Can't hurt.

Has anyone received fee waivers from Rutgers - Newark, or Fordham?
Also, what do you say when you solicit a school for a fee waiver?
