166 LSAT, 3.28 GPA - Possibilities??

Post by steven86 » Sat Jun 26, 2010 1:22 pm

I just took the June 2010 LSAT and received a 166. Not as high as I would have hoped, but I'm pretty happy with it. Anyway, I know that my GPA is a bit on the low side, but I think I have a fairly realistic list of schools to which I think I'm going to apply:

GULC
GW
Loyola (in LA)
UNC-Chapel Hill (I live in NC)
Illinois
Wisconsin
Fordham
American
Wake Forest
Florida
Miami
George Mason

I have a general idea of my chances of getting into these schools, but I'd like to get some outside opinions on this list. Also, if anyone thinks that there are schools not on this list that I should be considering, please let me know. Thanks!

GULC F/T - out
GULC P/T - WL/out
GW - out
Loyola - in
UNC - WL/out
UIUC - WL/out
Wisc - in
Fordham - WL/out
American - in
WF - WL/in
UF - in
Miami - in
GMU - WL

I could see you getting money at Miami, UF, and maybe American and Loyola. I would add UC-Hastings and UC-Davis to your list.

Thanks for the input. You're pretty much in line with my thinking. Being from NC, though, I would say that UNC is at least a WL/in. I'm most interested in GW and Loyola (especially), and I'm glad to see that Loyola should be a sure thing. I've scored as high as 174 on practice tests but 166-169 was my usual; do u think I should take it again in October, or just leave it alone?

Oh yeah, I forgot to consider NC residency. Yeah, you might be in there then.

If 166 was on the low end of your practice test performance, then you should seriously consider taking it again in October. I'd say a 167 or higher would make you a great splitter for the T30 through T20 schools, and if you can hit 169, I'd bet that WUSTL and USC would take a look at you.
