Obviously people can add fake profiles, but they can't take down real ones.

That's ridiculous. I'd consider a WL a rejection before I'd consider it an admission. Wow.

Wailisters might not be admitted outright, but they most certainly aren't rejected. The BIG difference is that those who are rejected have no chance of attending the school, whereas those on the waitlist have at least some chance (albeit small).

Some may be flames, but the overall trends are accurate.

Also, URMs get much different consideration than non-URMs and OP is white.

My point is, how can you know if the trend is accurate if you have no idea of the actual results since these schools don't release them?

There is official admissions data available through LSAC. Unsurprisingly it matches closely with LSN's.

Most t14 schools don't release this data.

If some do, please show me which ones.

First of all I don't even need to know the difference for something like this, because I'm basing my estimation on there being no acceptances.

But mostly by trends. If there is an acceptance where everyone else was waitlisted, or rejected, it is either a fake or an outlier acceptance. There are occasions when a person gets in somewhere they shouldn't, but those are rare, and unpredictable.

The original poster should apply to CCN, MVP, DNCG, just incase he is one of those special cases. But he is almost for sure not.

OP has a good shot at NU ED, an ok shot at NU regular, and an ok shot at GTown PT. He has almost no shot at HYSCCNB. He's got a small shot at MVP, but northwestern is pretty much their peer anyway, he should ED at NU.

I've spent a ton of time thinking about this since I was 176/2.8, with moderate W/E.

Just looking in the past few minutes, the only schools I saw that release the info seem to be Yale and Duke...

I did.

12 of the 14 schools don't release the information.

You obviously don't want to trust LSN. If we had hard data, I have a feeling you would pin your hopes to errant special snowflakes anyway. So fine. Believe whatever you please. Just realize our sources have earned the trust of the admissions-obsessed over time.

So... Why don't you use those two schools and check LSN's reliability for yourself.

I'm not disagreeing that the chances are slim, but to tell him/her that the only school that would admit him/her is NU seems to be hilariously shortsighted.

I also think what you just wrote seems more realistic than "NU or bust"...

Too many of the profiles on that website are fake for me to believe the data to be hard-and-true reality.

You think hilariously shortsighted based on what? You don't trust LSN, what are you even basing this off of.

Northwestern and Gtown are the only schools who take below 3.0 with any regularity, and even Gtown its part time only.

Do you go to NU undergrad, or do you want to go to NU law?

I don't think "slim" and "none" are the same thing.

That is, if the OP has the time and money to apply to several of the schools, then he most certainly should and not let half-complete data stop him.

Outliers are outliers for a reason.

I know of a borderline candidate this cycle who probably would have gotten a t14 with ED but didn't "just in case." the story does not end well. It is a risky thing to do with your cycle. Of course OP may want to roll the dice but should know the risk he's taking.

I can't believe no one mentioned schools using WL as a soft reject. A LOT of schools do that in the T14. How should I consider my WL at Columbia? Do you really thing they had any intention of accepting me later? Probably not.

Northwestern is by far this guy's best shot, and if he wants to play it safe he'll ED as early as he can. That being said, I'd just apply to the entire T14 (minus HYS probably) as early as possible and see how it pans out.

I have no idea what the school's intentions were.

What I do know is that if they wanted to reject you, they would have done it outright.

Anyway...

Northwestern is probably your best shot, yes.

But, if I were you, I would appy ED to NU and plan to send apps to other schools as well.

Of course. Only applying to NU is stupid. CCN,MVP,DCG at a mini.
