For all of my fellow doe-eyed 2013ers: 2010 OCI is in the toilet (LinkRemoved). Fingers crossed the legal field decides to do some major bounce-back in the next ten months or so, so our 1L summer won't be setting us on the path to woe.

Sorry, 0L, but that chart is meaningless. 3L OCI was a barren wasteland with tumbleweed rolling across the ground long before the economy cratered. Firms just stopped sending recruiters for jobs that haven't ever existed.

At its worse point in the past eight years (sans 2009), if you got shafted in your 2L you still had the safety net of looking at the situation as a 3L of at least a(n averaged) 1 in 4 chance of finding an employer on campus that at least said they had a job that they were looking to fill (on average; I'm sure the odds were more or less favorable the lower or higher ranked a school positioned themselves). I obviously don't have your insight just as to how many of these recruiters sent to 3L OCI were actually interested in recruiting, but the fact that they decided to drop the pretense is something worth noting as well.

As much as I agree that 2010 is not going to be like past years, you are aware that this is 3L OCI, right? Normal OCI takes place your 2L summer, and usually 3L OCI didn't yield much historically.

Yeah, which is why I said I hope our 1L summer prospects brighten so that we won't have a scenario where after and because a dismal 1L summer our 2L summer/OCI prospects are dismal and after and because of a dismal 2L summer our 3L OCI prospects aren't completely in the gutter. Assuming the economy doesn't decide to free fall once again, I don't think we'll be anywhere near the 3% 3L OCI rates of 2009, but it's definitely something to sober up the mind as something that may potential shape the landscape of our employment prospects.

Sooooo excited. I bought my E&E's for the fall semester which I might skim through before then but probably not. I'm half way through Law School Confidential, then it's on to Getting to Maybe and One L. Also just got LEEWS today.

Quitting my job in ten weeks, then it's a good three weeks of lounging around on a beach somewhere reading trashy romance novels before orientation.

It's a full day's seminar or a full day's worth of cd's. Either way, around 8 hours or so. I have it as audio cd's. There are also handouts, practice exams and such. I've heard mixed advice about when to do it, but definitely not to wait until a month before exams. I'm going to go through it over the summer and maybe re-do it again a few weeks into the fall semester.

Well, not LS but my last two years of undergrad after an 8 year hiatus. I'm a car salesman, and as a commissioned employee I can't really slack off if I want to pay bills, but it's getting harder and harder to work!

I did the LEEWS audio stuff during the first month of classes. You have a lot of time on your hands during this time and you are starting to get a small feel of what ls is all about.
