T30($$$) or reapply-167, 3.3, URM

What should I do TLS?

I'm in with money at a T30 I'm very happy with, but I've also been waitlisted and held at a couple of T6s. My stats are 3.3, 166, URM.

I decided to apply to law school last May and rushed through my application cycle. I half assed my LSAT prep class and am pretty sure I can do better. Should I shoot for a better score in June, or just be happy with where I am at? Would getting all of my apps in early with a 170 make that much of a difference in my admission cycle?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

You know the answer to this. The decision you have to make is whether the T30 fits your goals well enough to satisfy you. If you want a T6, or rather the opportunities a T6 will afford, retake. If you're happy with what you've got and where it will take you and don't want to burn the year, you're set.

You're right, I guess I need to make that decision myself. My current strategy is to pay my seat deposits and take the June LSAT. If my LSAT is 170+, I'll consider taking the year off and reapplying. Does anyone see any problems with this strategy?

The only thing you could waste in this scenario is the preparation effort, the cost of the LSAT, and the deposits. You've got a safety net, so kill the retake and reevaluate afterwards. Sounds pretty airtight.

My pleasure. Relatively similar to my own situation, I retook a 169 in December with the knowledge that my first score was an acceptable fallback position. Best decision I ever made, given the negligible risk of a school considering a lower second score. Extreme low-risk high-reward scenarios are nice.

On a related note, should I include in my LOCI that I am retaking the June LSAT, or will they make their decision before then?
