Conpletely inaccurate, IMO. Although we may have been applying to a different range of schools.Daytukrjabs wrote: 6) Undergrad prestige or achievements matter little to none.

1. Apply early
2. Undergrad prestige matters immensely for T6
3. Multiple LSATs likely doesn't matter.. just get a high one.
4. WE doesn't really matter for most schools
5. Apply to schools you wouldn't even want to attend.. for scholarship leverage.
6. Have more than one safety. I got WLed at 2 or so 95%+ chances on LSP.

Choosing where to go is 100x harder than you'd expect

What I learnt from the 2010 cycle?
Schools that claim to apply a 'holistic' approach towards admissions are anything but 'holistic'.
Case-in-point: YLS.
We'll see if 'H' lives up to their "we see beyond the numbers" mantra.

More like any school that claims to use a holistic approach.Pee N wrote:What I learnt from the 2010 cycle?

You should have already applied by the time you were done with that sentence.Knockglock wrote:This is some great advice for those of us heading into the 2011 cycle. Thanks everyone for sharing!

Searching TLS everyday for previous applicants with the same dismal numbers that got into your reaches is a worthless effort.
They don't exist.
Good luck '10-'11 cycle.

Re: What have you learned through this 2010 application cycle?
Tons of things.
1) The importance of a law school's rank
2) realistic expectations to have for post graduation employment
3) the importance of journals/moot court
4) there are some other folks older than 25 applying to law school
5) IBR/Repayment info
6) chances off of waitlists
7) to avoid xoxo
8 ) outlining resources
9) transfer info
10) some tls'ers have great music taste
11) how not to be/be a gunner
12) why you should be happy with your cycle's outcome
13) the general unimportance of dual degree programs
14) Cooley bought a baseball stadium

That's confusing. Just out of curiosity, how do you think UChicago fits into that scheme?JCougar wrote:I believe LSP primarily uses each law school's index formula to calculate it's decisions. Some schools care more about their formula than anything else, and some are more interested in gaming the system/medians. LSP works almost perfectly for predicting the former. For the latter, you're better off looking at the school's LSN profile and figuring out what their target medians are.Jas wrote:That the Law School Predictor isn't great at factoring in ED admissions boosts: it gave me "weak consider" and although there is nothing outstanding on my application (no 3 children saved), I somehow got in. So, in a nutshell, those of you who think you don't have a chance (like I did) should probably go ahead and reach for some reaches...
Also, I neglected to mention that I was rejected the previous year and there was almost nothing different about the applications from year to year aside from the ED part and applying in October instead of December. (Same GPA, Same LSAT, no new courses, a PS I didn't like as much as the first)

1. The more schools one applies to, the more one has to wait to hear back from.
2. A scholarship from a lesser ranked school means nothing to a higher ranked school.
