USNWR 2010 Ratings Leaked??!!!
Does anyone know if 2010 USNWR ratings are leaked anywhere? I know it is only 9 days till official online release, but I am damn curious.

Re: USNWR 2010 Ratings Leaked??!!!
Aren't they coming out online well before the print edition shows up? If so, it is pretty hard to see how there will be a legit leak with documentation (e.g. photocopy) to prove it. Our only hope is for someone to leak the info and then US News goes-- "Damn!"

Autoadmit is a joke, so yes, but the "uncle works at BN" thing is close to a dead giveaway. If I have time, I'll go and see whether that newsstand at Penn Station wants to cooperate with us again.dbt wrote:pretty sure it's a jokeAPHill wrote:No top 30?....

Do we know when the "do not open until 4/15" boxes arrive? 9 days in advance seems a little early.OperaSoprano wrote:Autoadmit is a joke, so yes, but the "uncle works at BN" thing is close to a dead giveaway. Having worked at a Borders before, 9 days is a little late. They're usually in the store about two weeks in advance unless it's something like Harry Potter. So at least in theory a leak could happen at this point.SAE wrote: Do we know when the "do not open until 4/15" boxes arrive? 9 days in advance seems a little early.

Got friends who still work there??BenJ wrote:Having worked at a Borders before, 9 days is a little late. They're usually in the store about two weeks in advance unless it's something like Harry Potter. So at least in theory a leak could happen at this point.
In that case I'm surprised it has not happened yet. It's not CIA classified materials we're talking about here. Popping a box open can't be that hard.

Ummmm.... I'd assume shipments coming 2 weeks in advance are books, not periodicals. Unless Borders has access to some sort of flux-capacitated time machine that reveals current events.... then all bets are off.BenJ wrote:Having worked at a Borders before, 9 days is a little late. I'm pretty sure the rankings are a special annual issue, separate from the weekly USNWR magazine.Mr. Matlock wrote:Ummmm.... I'd assume shipments coming 2 weeks in advance are books, not periodicals. Correct. I used to work at a B. Dalton (which n'existe pas anymore...sad) and we would get certain books more than 2 weeks in advance. I can't say this with any certainty, because I *gasp* didn't care so much about USNWR rankings back then, but I'm pretty sure the mags came the day they were to be released. That said, it might be different for other stores...SAE wrote:I'm pretty sure the rankings are a special annual issue, separate from the weekly USNWR magazine.Mr. Matlock wrote:Ummmm.... But last year someone managed to get the rankings a week or two ahead of the actual release day. I think they must have worked at a book store, or had some inside connection with US News.

USNWR probably made sure that sanctions for early release are severe this year.honestabe84 wrote:But last year someone managed to get the rankings a week or two ahead of the actual release day. I think they must have worked at a book store, or had some inside connection with US News.

I wonder how hard it would be to trace back a scan.APHill wrote:USNWR probably made sure that sanctions for early release are severe this year.honestabe84 wrote:But last year someone managed to get the rankings a week or two ahead of the actual release day. I'll never understand why people care so much, but anyway: Right now, there is some 20-year-old GW undergrad at U.S. News being paid $11.50 an hour to proofread the very issue you all so desperately covet. If any of you are in D.C., simply go down to Thomas Jefferson St. around 6 p.m. and wait for a scrawny young lad with no facial hair and an awkward haircut to emerge. Tell him your cousin works in the office of Rep. Mike Castle, R-Delaware, and can totally get him an internship next fall answering answering constituent e-mails. You'll get your leak.

hmm reference to mike castle was very specific. Is he handing out internships to young attractive although awkward twenty year old men? Are there butt-pinches in the job descrription?dood wrote:LOL so true.j.wellington wrote:I'll never understand why people care so much, but anyway: Right now, there is some 20-year-old GW undergrad at U.S. News being paid $11.50 an hour to proofread the very issue you all so desperately covet.
