This is a tough question to answer because many "Antitrust Lawyers" are paid based on a contingency or at least the associates have their bonuses backed on such things. I have no idea as to how well they do compared to other "specialty" lawyers.

What does it say that I was able to predict that a thread on TLS titled "Antitrust Lawyer Question" would be about how much money they make?

What does it say that someone who would ask that question would have dollar signs in their picture?

Big firms with antitrust departments pay their antitrust lawyers on the same scale as the other lawyers. Government antitrust lawyers (and there is a lot of antitrust work in government) get paid on the government scale for lawyers. I imagine plaintiff-side firms pay antitrust lawyers the same way as everyone else as well, but I don't know anything about plaintiff-side firms.

It just seems like a very interesting area of law to go into. You would get to work on lots of cool cases (depending on the firm of course).

What I heard is, in the biglaw world:

Billing rates
1. IP
2. Tax
3. Everyone else

Actual pay
1. IP
2. Everyone else

Outside of biglaw, there are plaintiff's lawyers that are really good at what they're doing that make tons of money.
