Disabilities and Admissions

Postby sibley » Fri Mar 26, 2010 4:52 pm

Please don't turn this into some sort of huge argument... I'm just curious about something.

If any current applicants have stories about mental disability causing trouble for them getting into a law school (eg. getting an email asking them to submit proof that their disability is under control at an auto-admit school), etc. Could you please message me?

Thanks.

I got rejected at Cornell because I've got freckles. I have a 176 for the gods' sake.

I got WL'd at GTTTown because I'm socially awkward. Class action!??!?

Sibley do you have a real disability like quadriplegia, or a fake one like anxiety.

tbf DF, just the fact that they let you into NU despite the interview probably means they are the least discriminatory t14

I don't see any reason to mock the OP.

OP, I've sent you a PM with some resource information. With mental disabilities, you will want to check with the State Bar for whatever state you hope to practice law in as well.

My problem with the OP statement is that there really is no such thing as "auto-admit".

y would someone have to check the state bar if they have a disability? isn't that against the disability law or something?

She freaked out on the Gulc 2013 thread and wants to sue them for rejecting her with a 170 3.2. She claims its discrimination. I claim it to be lulzy.

1. Sibley immediately spoke about taking legal action without first contacting admissions to inquire about her status

2. As CC stated, there is no "auto-admit", if you look at other people on LSN there are a few rejections in her range.

3. She has multiple retakes.

Fair enough. I didn't dig through OPs previous 2300 posts but even if I had I guess I would still choose to provide some resource information rather than make a stink about it.

In any case, the National Association of Law Students with Disabilities puts out some information regarding the applications process for folks with disabilities. Even if it doesn't benefit the OP, it could be great information for future applicants.

Also, OP, rightly or wrongly, many state bars require the disclosure of treatment, diagnosis, and hospitalizations for mental or emotional disorders.

EDIT: So I got curious and checked out the GULC 2013. Wow. I'm not internetting right.

Go look at the Georgetown thread, then you will.

The OP is acting like a spoiled brat douchebag.

Edit - I see you did.

So was it a real disability or a fake one.

Because I think real disabilities should be URM.

The gov defines a real mental disability as one that significantly interferes with your daily life. So, as an example, someone with OCD who has trouble leaving the house because he or she can't complete all of the tasks necessary to do so without taking up their whole day would count as disabled, whereas someone who had a handwashing compulsion(so washed 20 times a day) would only be counted as having a disorder.

TLDR fake.

My brother is quadriplegic that is a real disability.
