Whats up with Texas this cycle?

Has anyone else noticed that it seems like Univ. of Texas has upped their standards GPA-wise this cycle? They seem to pretty much be rejecting everyone with a GPA lower than 3.4, and they weren't that way in '09, '08 or '07. what's up with this?
