if anonymous big scary words in a forum scare you away from asking an internet question, is law school really the place for you?

I'd throw in Emory/WUSTL/BU into this category as well. But I think those three are all >> Fordham/GW/IUB (oos)/Iowa (oos).

WUSTL is T20 (19) and dominates St. Louis and the Midwest. It's pretty much the Fordham of the midwest. BU is a T20 as well. So it was within the logic of that statement. Emory is the best in in its market outside of the national schools, so its pretty on par with Fordham. Unfortunately that market sucks (as with most legal markets, and (personal bias) the South does too), and Emory does not do as well in the south as Fordham does in NYC. So I, personally would not include it in that category, and thus didn't.

I am a dude. And will be the 6th dude from my family to receive a JD.

While anonymous words shouldn't scare anyone off, there are currently 8 registered users and 35 guests in this thread. Just saying. It's pretty easy to be an asshole anonymously, but there's really no reason to do so.

There are TONS of people in this echo chamber who can be just as helpful to people new to this professional/scholastic realm without being rude and dismissive. To those people, who might not be registered and have concerns about the process, ask away. There are many nice knowledgeable people here willing to respond.
LOL at me not being helpful and *cue suspenseful music* scaring people away from this site.

I would say that I am one of the most helpful posters on this site and am one of the only advocates for being decent to people looking at lower ranked schools. Attacking me just shows your noobieness and you ignorance.

The reason I posted that way to the above poster is that he/she is an obnoxious know-it-all 0L who thinks that they can one up reasonable_man, a very respected poster on this board using semantics. The haughty way that the poster speaks sounds like "blah blah blah" to anyone with any experience irl with law school.
I'm not trying to one-up anyone. I stated my opinion about why this thread was suddenly derailed. If you could take the time to follow this conversation you would realize that people were not arguing about the topic at hand, and the reason for that was largely because of reasonable_man's exaggeration. I did not challenge his points in this thread because I have read some of his posts in the past and have come to understand how his persona manifests in his writing. I highly respect reasonable_man for his experience and point-of-view, but that does not mean that I will blindly defend his statements and shun anyone for pointing out problems with a literal interpretation of his writing. As I mentioned several times, I do not think that his point is incorrect, I simply think that his wording caused the bulk of the disagreement. I'm sorry if you find this offensive.

As for you, I am not completely familiar with your post history, but I know that you value your reputation on this board and I do not want to challenge it. I have seen you post some very helpful things in the past, but I must say that I think your conduct in this thread is nothing short of trolling. Most of your posts have been juvenile attacks on other board users, in my case without fully understanding my position. I'm sorry if you don't like to hear that.

I do not understand how you view me as a know-it-all, because I have actually made no substantive points about this topic. I have only commented on how the conversation has gone awry, which only requires actually reading the topic and knowing what people posted.
