How much will my admissions prospects improve?

so i applied this cycle, got into GW, fordham, cardozo (full tuition scholarship), hastings, preferred waitlist at GULC. applied in early january. 3.4/170/ivy (not HYP). graduated in may of 2009 and just (JUST) got a job at a law firm doing legal assistant things.

i'm gonna wait and reapply next cycle or the cycle after that. if i apply really early (like, september), how much can i hope for my admissions prospects to improve for the t14 with my work experience and time out of undergrad distancing me from my gpa? should i just blanket the t14 with applications and hope for the best?

Earlier the better, but don't you just want to go to school since you've been admitted already?

I'm not sure how much work experience comes into admissions. It is a fckin numbers game after all.

You could possibly pull a full ride to NU if you wait a year.

Work experience would help significantly only for Northwestern, and 1 or 2 years off won't distance you from your GPA (you'd need like 5-10 years for that). And applying in early January isn't late enough to sink you, so I would say your chances won't improve significantly if you wait.

i'd rather take some time off, personally.

it is a numbers game but i think applying earlier in the cycle definitely helps, as does work experience. so those two factors together might be the difference between a WL and a rejection from, say, GULC. i think that is worth waiting a couple years for, especially since the number of applicants might decrease as/if the economy improves.
